All three of our bloggers work at Overlake Medical Clinics Breast Surgery. They have over 40 years of combined experience

Richard Clarfeld, MD, breast surgeon

Dr. Clarfeld is a board-certified surgeon specializing in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer. He received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and then attended the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Washington. Dr. Clarfeld completed his fellowship in Surgical Oncology of the Breast at Baylor University. He has more than 33 years of surgical experience, with the last 25 years dedicated solely to breast oncology.

Kristi Harrington, MD, PhD, breast surgeon

Dr. Harrington is a board-certified surgeon specializing in oncology of the female breast. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and completed her PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado. Dr. Harrington then attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for medical training. She completed her surgical residency at the University of Washington. Dr. Harrington has dedicated 10 years of specialized surgical experience to the treatment of breast cancer. 

Mary “Muff” Heffernan, MN, ARNP, AOCNP

“Muff” is a board certified adult nurse practitioner specializing in the treatment and prevention of breast diseases and cancer. She received her undergraduate nursing degree from Seattle University and her masters of nursing degree from University of Washington. She facilitates the Overlake Breast Cancer Survivorship clinic, a clinic designed to address the unique needs of breast cancer survivors.
